(354 words) In the comedy “Woe from Wit” A.S. Griboedov shows the life of Moscow society in the days of serfdom. This work covers several problems at once - the unfairly comfortable position of the landowners, their vicious customs and retrograde in all spheres of life.
The comedy takes place in the house of Pavel Afanasevich Famusov. The main character is a wealthy official who occupies a high position in Moscow. Famusov refers to the representatives of the ideas of the “century past”. He is little concerned with the study of sciences and official affairs. The hero loves to organize dinner parties, but he relates to work formally. In people, he seeks only one gain in their landowner position. Therefore, it surrounds itself only in this circle of society. It is in the person of Famusov that the essence of noble mankind is revealed. For them, money and communications are the highest priority, for which you can get a high position. All of them are united by one interest - a craving for wealth.
One of the representatives of such a society is Colonel Skalozub. In the comedy he is represented by an extremely stupid person. According to Famusov, he is worthy of the hand of his daughter Sophia only because he is rich and "marks in the generals." In him, he sees a like-minded person because of his rank, which he also received through contacts. Both heroes have a love of ranks and status in society.
In addition to Skalozub, in Famus society you can meet noblemen not of high ranks, but ready to curry favor with rich people. Such is the role of Molchalin in comedy. In the work he is represented by a silent and secretive person. The hero is accustomed to depend on others only in order to receive respect and obedience to himself. Molchalin is helpful only because he does not yet have a high rank. Therefore, it depends on other people with a high position. So, for example, he cares for Sophia, only because she is the daughter of his boss.
Among all the heroes you can find a striking contrast in the face of Chatsky. He accuses Famus society of lying, selfishness, blat and slander. The hero does not completely accept the stereotypes and imaginary values of Famusov and reproaches him for wrong actions and a conservative position. Chatsky differs from the general environment in his desire for positive change. They do not accept him for this.
A.S. Griboedov in his work showed a picture of the society of the “century past”. People like Famusov are found in our time. For them, money and communication play an important role. Therefore, exposing obsolete views on social problems is the main task of this comedy.
