: A dog living in an empty cottage sees only bad things from people all his life. The owners come to the cottage. The dog gets used to them, but in the fall they leave, again leaving her alone.

A dog accumulates anger all his life at a world where both people and other dogs offend her. In winter, she finds an empty cottage, settles under her terrace and guards her disinterestedly.

In the spring, summer residents come. The first dog to meet a girl, schoolgirl Lyolya. At the first meeting, the dog scares her, jumps out from behind the bushes and tears a piece from the dress. Over time, people get used to her and give her the nickname Kusaka. Good summer residents feed the dog, and Kusaka every day reduces the distance between himself and people by one step, but he is still afraid to come closer. Lyolya nevertheless approaches Kusaka and strokes her. So for the second time in my life, a dog trusted a person. From this moment, Kusaka is transformed, now it belongs to people and rightfully serves them.

In autumn, Lyolya leaves with her family for the city. Kusaku is sorry, but you cannot take a dog with you to the apartment. Before leaving, the girl comes to the garden, finds a dog. Together they go on the highway. “Boring,” Lola says, and goes back, and only remembers the dog at the train station.

The dog rushes about for a long time in the footsteps of people who left. Returning to the cottage and realizing that she was alone again, she howls loudly from loneliness.
